~What You Have Given Me~
Through Your Beautiful Dance
Michael,
What you have given me
There are so many things
Maybe when I was a child
Yes I should start at the beginning
5 years old
A little girl
Start struck from ‘Thriller’
I had to be yours
Bothered my parents
Every night and day
Begging for your cassette tape
For everyone I had to play
Michael,
What you have given me
Since that very time
Is love for creativity
Through words of rhyme
A love for your feet
Watched you on TV
Wrapped up in your dance
Oh how I wished
To live in your stance
Memorized all your steps
Through every era
A teenager now
Still a love for you was kept
Michael,
What you have given me
Since 1986
Is something I carry with me
Each time I rhyme
In 1993, when I was 12
I was schooled at home
I was very sick
And in this time
You were too
But I carried on with my days
Knowing that you Michael,
We’re going to be safe.
Throughout my age
13, 14, 15, 16
You were there
My bedroom covered in your pictures
From my floor to the window glare
At your beautiful presence
Michael I did stare
What you have given to me
Now an adult
You’ve shown me how to be unselfish
Making my heart a home
Loving you, the man
Has never left me alone
Michael what you have given me
In the past 3 years
Is something I never thought I would find
Though it’s brought me to tears
I would like to thank you,
For my positive voices family
Our love for you,
Brought us together
A chain of love to wrap you up
For many more years
We stood by you
With prayers of love
And we felt your thanks
Through God above
So Michael
What you have given me
Are things I carry with me everyday
My love for rhyme and words
Your feet, your stance
Everyday I live
Through your beautiful dance
